How do you call out Hypocrites?
I don’t really attend churches on regularly, well not as much as my dear old Mom would have like if she was alive. My takes about religion and more so the version preached in third developing countries. I do not condemn it but I am not a fan of their tactics and religious talks and keep fanatics at an arm’s-length. I believe that it is personal but my concerns are that some of the people that I get to meet tend to use it as morality shroud covered in personality piety. Did I hear you say hypocrisy? I have heard that it is now the yardstick with which decisions on friendship continuity are could remain or be broken in some groups. I am not complaining about not being shown the scale calibrations but that is okay; I have questions on the activities therein, though; of these new age churches. I hear from the members that they are reading and following the bible, trying to be Christ-like; eheh! Mmmh! Christ-like? A friend reminded me the other day that Jesus Christ never had a church not to talk of belonging to any denomination; how about that folks? Huh!
I do go from time to time
I sometimes attend mass services at a nearby Catholic church; yes, I have been Catholic by birth, no apologies here, I must tell you that, the more I observe the activities of these "tongues-speaking" new age churches that have found wealth in common and other hidden places, the more I get confused and concerned. As at the time the Catholics, the Baptist and other protestant bodies had dominant loyalty, running our schools, the totality of Nigerian schools meant something more than what it is at present. Teachers had integrity and students were thought honesty, and you know what? The act of being a student was an affordable exercise for parents and to all that were able and willing. As at that time, those are memories now you may say. Prayers were generalized and everyone was included, parishioners were asking for the forgiveness of sins for all and of all, the daily prayers started with “OUR” not "MY" and it included give “US” and the word “WE”. Are you getting where I am going with this? SELFISH-HYPOCRISY
Mea Culper
There were nuns that instilled discipline, parents that supported and enforced those expected behaviors outside the confines of the controlled environment; these parents really practiced the aphorism “spare the rod and spoilt the child”. Yes, it happened to me and I am not messed up, at least not yet. We found out that the big domes had their man made problems, there were negative and criminal outliers that brought shame to the big time symbol of moral enforcements, yes, there were those who escaped the strictest scrutiny, I agree, their behaviors were very repulsive, reprehensible and was out rightly allowed to thrive in various communes. To the offended I say “Mea Culper”.
Fear and Miracle cure is here
Now, here comes the fast talking and theatrically animated, the success immediacy-preaching and presumed miracle making men and women that sit behind the shinning tables in church. These guys have garnered and mastered the act of public engagement through oratorical conviction, they are the good sales men that can sell sand to the desert dwellers; they have found ways and means of getting everyone that is less inquisitive to believe in their brand. The brand is well packaged, manicured and tailored to suite the intended audience. They present an immediacy of cure for all human problems and failings by proxy they say. I am an amateur on the good book but my limited knowledge told me that most Christ did on other humans was relative to their faith – “Your faith has made you whole”. Well! Maybe Lazarus but that was his friend, how about believing that he knows Lazarus’ had faith. In some situation, it magical to me that a pastor can just gaze at a section in the church and the flocks goes into convulsion; what will you call the waving of wand or hands and the congregants go flying and some go rolling like beanballs.
Trust but verify
Jesus made sure that the people he healed at least believed and have faith. In this brand, you don’t even need to have faith or even believe in God for them to work you over; all you need to do is acknowledge them and have your wallet open. They will tell you about fears like no other, they will tell you about your past life that may have kept you in bondage like no other, and they will foretell your future and breakthrough like no other, yet the good book tells us that no one knows the future. The prayers religious dictum has gone from our God to “MY” God, from give us, to give “ME” and from we to “I”. They now have private churches like you have private companies, and are constantly grooming their fruits like FC Trump to DJ Trump, so that there is an heir to the throne. Perplexity is a kind word here but, we have to acknowledge the lack of Jim Jones among these guys, despite the stories we hear from some disgruntled former leaders. They are only for money for now and not lives yet.
Fear is the tool
Some of us will remember the quote “Fear is the key that opens wallets.” That was Poke Toholo speaking in “Want to stay alive” by JHC. Our religious leaders have succeeded in using there “Fear” of the unknown to harvest more abundantly with negativity sown, they have taught us a proper way to personal hostages by convincing us to lay bare our soil so that they can plant, they have reconfigured the liberal interpretations of morale doctrine to mean all that is to be feared so that they can profit of it. I was in conversation with some people on my recent visit to the motherland and a discussion came up about an expected breakthrough that is being prayed upon by a certain man of god, to whom I asked; breakthrough from what? “Breakthrough from lives’ issues” and to that I said, then you should be dead for that is the only way to avoid live issues.
Lift up your thought for desire
My personal belief is that we were assigned to use our own mind because we have complete control of it. I have and I believe fervently that our major course on earth is to develop wisdom through struggle, overcoming challenges and self-discipline. Have a desire through lifting up or changing your thoughts, put up a bonfire under your desire and link your thought to a purpose, at least you owe the creator that much and it is the law. you have been given something, so make something, that is what nature intended. Any man or woman that has the oratorical acumen of Mark Anthony gets on a rostrum, proclaims breakthrough for all, I will not listen to, do not be deceived and don't be one of those who throng to the pew, the aisle and altar to give all that you have, to contribute to the building of colleges that your wards cannot afford to partake in knowledge dispersed. If you contribute to the upkeep of a structured golden fleece quest, you must be allowed to have your child take park in that quest at a minimum. Do not allow anyone to send you on guilty trip where you will practically open your wallets and ask the pastor to take as much as he can and leave you whatever he feels like by his mercy.
